Sleepy morning

Wow-we all got to sleep in this morning until 9am!  I went to bed a little later than normal since Mommy and Daddy were out on the town and only woke up a few times last night.  Brody hasn't slept this late in a long time so that was a real treat for everyone!

I was much sleepier than normal this morning so Mommy and Daddy left me in my boppy to get some zzzzz’s.  Daddy decided to take Brody to the zoo since it was such a nice day out.

I could feel Mommy come in and check on me a bunch of times and she noticed I started to get warm again and had labored breathing.  When she took my temperature it was around 101 so she decided to hook me up to my pulse-ox.  My heart rate was in low the 200’s and my oxygen saturation was lower than normal too.  She called the nurse and she told Mommy to give me Tylenol and that she would be there in about an hour.

Mommy suctioned me out a few times and was waiting to see if the Tylenol could reduce my fever and bring down my heart rate.  30 minutes went by and my heart rate was still really high, so Mommy decided to give me Ativan to help get my heart rate down.

Then Daddy came home with Brody and the nurse showed up.  My oxygen saturation started to really drop so they decided to give me some oxygen.  That seemed to help and the nurse took me and tried to get me to cough some of the fluid out of my chest.  After about an hour or so she was able to get me to cough stuff out a few times and my oxygen levels returned to normal and my heart rate was still elevated but the nurse thought it would come down further with a little time.

The nurse listened to my lungs and said they sounded like they had fluid in them, which could explain the fevers the last few days, but it could also be another symptom of my brain damage.  The messages to control my body’s temperature (and lots of other functions) are controlled by the part of my brain that is damaged.  As my seizures become more frequent I may have other symptoms appear.

After the nurse left, I snuggled with Mommy and Daddy for a while and big brother Brody finally woke up from his nap around 5pm.  Mommy said he must be going through a growth spurt because he is sleeping so much!  After dinner we all went outside to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.

Thank you Diane for the beautiful quilt - we use it all the time!!
